During the Panel on “Digital Skills and Opportunities for Women’s Increased Role in IT”, Elisabetta addressed the challenges and opportunities for women in technology, emphasizing the urgent need for systemic change to close the gender gap in AI, STEM, and tech leadership.
The Gender Gap in AI and STEM: A Present Challenge
The numbers speak for themselves:
- Only 22% of the global AI workforce are women.
- In managerial roles, that number drops to just 18%.
This is not a distant issue—it is happening now.
Building Inclusion: A Collective Mission
In her speech, Elisabetta Rotolo stressed that inclusion cannot be left to chance—it must be designed and built through structural changes in education, corporate policies, and leadership pipelines.
